Losing weight is one of those things that everyone seems to have an opinion about.  Many people who do wish to lose weight want to do so quickly.  This is not always the best way, as losing weight too fast can be bad for your body, ending up with the weight creeping back on again.  Follow our tips for losing weight at the right pace, so you can drop a size and keep it off. First of all, be sure to only weigh yourself at the same time, with the same clothes (or preferably naked). Try to only weigh once each week, as our weight fluctuates too much to see a change any more often than that.  The average person can weigh up to 3lb more or less on each day depending on things like the food which has been eaten, how much sleep they had and whether they have been to the toilet. Next up, keep a diary of your eating and exercise.  It is very, very easy to overestimate how active we have been, as well as underestimating how many calories we are eating!  By writing things down as soon as you eat them, you are much more…

I don't know about you, but I find it truly staggering that in today's modern age, we have people still struggling with knowing what to do about poor mental health.  You would think with it being such a major part of peoples's lives that it would be easy to get help and find some support for dealing with these difficult, dark times! The best thing to do when you feel you are suffering with your mental health is to see your doctor.  They can offer a range of support services, from referrals to other clinics or groups, to medication and sometimes simply just offering a supportive and understanding ear! Make sure you talk through your problems with someone who can listen to you, such as a family friend.  It is so important to talk about your thoughts and problems, after all, a problem shared is a problem halved!

When it comes to keeping healthy, there are a number of things you can do on a regular basis.  These habits should become second nature, and will help you to live a healthy and happy life! Drink lots of water - make a pact to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water each day.  The human body is made up mostly of water, so it is vital that you drink enough water each day. Sleep more! Sleep is an important time for the body to repair and replenish the cells, so make sure you get enough sleep each night.  Around 8 hours is perfect. Snack on fruit and veg - When you are needing a little snack, try chowing down on some fruit or veg instead of chocolate or sweets. This is much better for your skin, teeth and waistline Move lots! We are advised by health officials to exercise more than we do (most of us anyway!). We should aim for 30 minutes of moderate exercise each day, so perhaps go for an after dinner walk, or get the bike out for a spin!

Exercise is known to be a great way for us to shape up, lose weight and get fit.  There are lots of benefits to performing different styles of exercise.  Let's take a look at some of the many good things exercise can do! Exercise can help us to be happier - did you know that exercise causes our body to release hormones called endorphins? These are little hormones which make us feel happy and bring a sense of wellbeing.  The same endorphins are released when we hug our friends or even when we eat things we love like chocolate! By increasing our fitness levels, we are likely to feel much better day to day.  Exercise is a great way to strengthen muscles, increase our body's capacity for movement as well as helping our organs to stay well. Exercise can be a good way to meet new people and form friendships.  Team sports such as football and rugby are an obvious choice, however think of all the other groups you could join!  Running, squash, horseriding and even swimming can get you into new friendship groups with a shared passion.
