Issue 1 - contains an overview of the QI Project’s aims and objectives, which envisage an independent quality institute that could provide support and services to a wide range of providers and commissioners, covering current and new interventions that go beyond those developed by Stanford University. This edition also includes a briefing sheet on options for commissioning training and support for volunteer tutors delivering Stanford lay led self-management courses.

Issue 2 - introduces members of the QI Steering Group and includes an explanation by Jim Phillips, Director of Products and Quality, EPP CIC, on their move towards developing a competence-based approach in health and social care interventions in self-management in recognition of the central role tutors play in making a course successful.
Issue 3 – summarises the achievements of the QI Project's first stage and describes the wide-ranging consultation from which the business plan for setting up the Quality Institute for Self-Management Education and Training (QISMET) has been developed.
