The Ss2Q Quality Framework consists of:

• a booklet that spells out the standards courses need to achieve for each level (minimum, intermediate or advanced)
• a series of questions to help identify how courses measure up
• suggestions for developing an action plan to attain the appropriate level
• an accompanying work-pad that will help course providers to monitor progress and build a portfolio of evidence.

The Ss2Q action plan process

The self-assessment facility in Ss2Q is carefully designed to enable users to accurately measure their level of achievement against clearly defined standards. It then provides support to enable them to develop action plans for reaching the requisite standard. Action plans and outcomes are recorded on a draft action plan pad (supplied as part of the Ss2Q package). Once the action has been completed, the final version needs to be filled out using the action plan template and added to the Ss2Q 'evidence portfolio'.

Feedback

Ss2Q is currently a prototype. Feedback is crucial to its successful development and ultimately to the future success of lay led self-management itself. We need as many people and organisations involved in self-management as possible to use it – and then to tell us how well it works. All comments will be taken into account when we review the content, so that we can be as sure as we can be that the final version is indeed the optimum self-management quality framework and self-assessment tool – because it is based upon the honest experiences of people who actually use it.
