Framework for commissioning self care launched
|
We are delighted to announce the launch a Framework For Commissioning Self Care Support - which is now on Self Care Connect and available for you to download.
The Framework is based on a workshop held at the Commissioning Self Care for Life Conference held in October last year. It is intended to support local commissioning of self care services by providing advice and support to commissioners and service providers.
Self care is under used and under commissioned even though good self care support services provide huge benefits to the NHS, patients and carers - both in patient outcomes and budget savings. |
|
Keeping adults and children well, and improving health and reducing health inequalities, is one of the priorities for this year's Operating Framework. Self care can play a crucial role in this.
The Framework discusses the importance of self care from a commissioning perspective and offers advice to ensure that self care is commissioned in the right way.
From a perspective of service managers or providers, the Framework will be useful to those looking to develop self care support services by highlighting the areas that motivate commissioners and the processes that commissioners follow.
You can download your copy of the Framework here. |

Self Care on the road... Workshops to support self care commissioning
We are taking self care on the road with a series of workshops called 'World Class Commissioning for self care to improve health and wellbeing'.
One of the key areas PCTs need to pay particular attention to in 2008 is keeping adults and children well, improving health and reducing health inequalities. In order to support you in this area we are launching a series of regional workshops focusing on commissioning self care support services. These are exclusive workshops, primarily aimed at PCT Directors of Commissioning, Public Health and Long Term Conditions within each SHA and places are limited.
Details of the workshops and other events on self care are available on the new Events page on Self Care Connect. Click here to find out more. |

Sharing is (self) caring
We have been working on the Self Care Connect site to make it easier to search for information on self care and easier for our users to upload their resources or information.
Sharing information with other users is what Self Care Connect is all about. From training programmes to case studies to leaflets to signposting to useful sources of information you have found on the web we want to ensure that all these things are available on the site. But we need your help to do so.
Click here to learn how you can upload your resources and share the knowledge on self care. |
